Scenic City Clay Arts
reimagined
Creating a forever home for clay in Chattanooga
Scenic City Clay Arts is bursting at the seams. With sold-out classes and 300+ people on the waitlist, too many are missing out on the creative, healing power of clay.
We have the chance to purchase a 15,000 sq. ft. downtown home that will triple our space and expand access — securing the future of ceramics in Chattanooga.
Give today to support SCCA’s forever home!
Building a Forever Home for Clay in Chattanooga
In 2026, Scenic City Clay Arts will move into a 15,000 sq. ft. downtown facility — a space designed to meet Chattanooga’s growing demand for creativity, healing, and connection through clay.
Over the past decade, SCCA has grown exponentially while our space has stayed the same. With 300+ people on the membership waitlist, full classes every session, and no room for expansion – we’ve reached our limit.
We’re under contract to purchase our permanent home — a studio focused on accessibility, sustainability, and community impact.
Through the SCCA Reimagined Campaign, we’re raising $1 million to complete our down payment, equip classrooms and member workspaces, and invest in the tools that will sustain our programs for generations. This is just the beginning of a larger $5 million vision to fully fund and pay off our building — ensuring financial stability and a secure home for Chattanooga’s clay community.
Our new facility will:
Triple studio space for members
Add classrooms for more wheel and handbuilding classes
Create a dedicated outreach and education studio
Expand equipment and workspaces
Include retail space for artist work
Offer outdoor space for markets and community events
This is more than a move — it’s a milestone. Together, we’re shaping the future of clay arts in Chattanooga.
Growth that Shapes our Community
Since becoming a nonprofit in 2016, Scenic City Clay Arts has grown from a small shared studio with a handful of members into a thriving ceramics community with 313 active members, over 3,000 students served annually, and a membership waitlist exceeding 300 people. Demand for our programs and studio offerings has increased exponentially over the past five years, demonstrating just how deeply our community values creativity and connection through clay.
Our 15,000 sq. ft. permanent home will expand member capacity to 500, add 24/7 studio access, and make new programs possible like after-school classes, practice sessions, and resident artist opportunities. With three classrooms, a dedicated outreach studio, and more kiln and equipment space, SCCA will welcome over 6,000 students and visitors annually — growing access to creativity and community like never before.
The result? More opportunities for people of all ages to experience the joy, healing, and community that clay provides — and a stronger creative ecosystem in the heart of downtown Chattanooga.
By investing in this new home, we’re not just expanding a studio — we’re shaping a sustainable future for the arts and contributing to the continued cultural and economic vitality of our city.
