Scenic City Clay Arts reimagined

Scenic City Clay Arts is excited to announce the acquisition of a new, larger space to further its mission of providing access to ceramic arts in the Chattanooga community! This expansion will allow SCCA to consolidate their membership, studio, and outreach efforts into one state-of-the-art facility.

The new space spans an impressive 13,000 square feet, nearly tripling the size of SCCA’s current 5,300 square foot studio. This move is a significant step to furthering SCCA’s mission of making the clay arts accessible in Chattanooga and beyond. With your support, we can reimagine the future of SCCA and the Southeastern ceramics community.

We can’t do this without your help. Help us reach our campaign goal of $500,000!

Our Challenge

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for clay arts access at SCCA has increased exponentially. Our community was hungry for spaces to create and heal, so we opened our secondary location, “The Classroom,” in 2021 to meet the growing demand. As more opportunities became available, demand continued to grow, leading to 3 main challenges:

  1. Barriers to Access - There are over 300 people on our membership waitlist and classes continue to sell out at rapid rates.

  2. Room to Grow - We are the sole clay arts center within 100 miles. More space allows us to add equipment and storage to serve more people than ever before.

  3. Education Limitations - Over 3,000 students learned in our singular classroom space last year. How many more people could we serve with 3 classrooms?

Individuals served

We've seen exponential growth in our classrooms, outreach programs, memberships, and community events - greatly increasing the amount of individuals served year over year.

We’ve maximized every inch of our current spaces, but its clear now is the time for a transformative expansion. At our new space, SCCA membership, classes, outreach programs, and community events will come together under one roof.

This new space will be more than just a studio; it will be a vibrant hub for ceramics in the region, offering innovative programs, engaging workshops, and immersive clay arts experiences for locals and visitors alike.

At SCCA, we believe that all people deserve the chance to create, connect, and heal through clay. With your support, we can break down barriers to access so that all people have the chance to create, connect, and heal through the transformative power of clay.
