Chattanooga Sports Ministries clay experience

“At CSM, we engage underserved communities in Chattanooga through the game of soccer. One of our aims is to provide exposure to new places and activities to youth that normally wouldn't get the chance to try. Scenic City Clay Art's partnership makes this possible. We had an incredible experience at SCCA. Our instructor Nicole was very welcoming and accommodating. She was also extremely patient with all of our guests and helped create a fun atmosphere for the youth and parents that participated. It was great to see players connect and be expressive through their work while.”

“Giovanini is one of our more talented players on the team but really struggles with self-confidence. He seemed timid and unsure when we showed up to the event and didn't know what he wanted to make. His initial thought was to make a mug, which very quickly didn't turn out the best and he was bit self conscious about it. He didnt seem like he was enjoying his time. We encouraged him to keep trying and expressed that he didn't have to make a mug. He could be as creative as possible. After some time, he had the idea to turn his mug into a trophy cup. This really changed his mood and self-esteem. The idea of working and having "reward" at the end was appealing to him. Not only didnt we end up having a good experience at SCCA but we had the opportunity to engage in a good conversation about being confident in the work you put in.”
