Pinch-Pot Clay Kit
With this kit, you will learn how to make a pinch pot using a traditional handbuilding technique! The instructional video and guide show you how to make two-four pinch pots and how to add surface design and details.
Order your take-home kit anytime and then you will be contacted by SCCA to arrange a day to pick up your clay kit from the studio to work on at home.
Open to all ages. Younger ages may require parent supervision while working.
Once you have picked up your fully-equipped take-home kit, you will have access to an intro video and the instruction video for how to make a pinch pot from your own home on your own time. The intro video will teach you the basic techniques of scoring and slipping, slab building, pinch pots, and coil building. The instruction video will take you step-by-step through the process to make a pinch pot. There is enough clay to make 2 large pinch pots or four smaller ones. We will also go through adding detail to your pinch pot using slabs, scoring and slipping and some coil building.
Students will be provided with newspaper to work on, clay, the tools you need for the project, and an instruction sheet. Students will choose one of four studio glazes to complete their work.
You will receive an email when your clay kit is ready for pick up - so be sure to keep an eye on your inbox (and your spam folder just in case!) Clay kits are ready for pick up within 1-3 business days from purchase. Once you have been contacted about your clay kit being ready, you will have 2 weeks to pick up your kit. After 2 weeks, your kit will be unavailable for pick up and you will need to purchase a new clay kit - as the clay will be dried out by then.
Fired work will be available for pick up within a month after your clay projects are brought to us to fire. SCCA will contact students once pieces are ready to be picked up at the studio.
