Day Passes

Utilize our studio space, glazes, or firings by purchasing a day pass.

What is a day pass?

A day pass is a way to access SCCA’s studio space for those who only need to utilize the studio on an occasional basis. A day pass covers a single day in the studio - even if you’re coming in to glaze just a few pieces or dropping off work to be fired. Day-passes are best utilized for individuals that are familiar with our space and processes, like former members or students.

$40/day pass

Limit 4 day passes per month

Day passes do NOT include clay instruction - this is for your own independent practice. We recommend calling ahead to check for availability - in busier times, day passes and public firings may not be available.

Here’s what’s included in a day pass session. You can accomplish one or all of these actions in a single session - whatever fits your needs:

  • Create with clay in our space. Clay is available for an additional $30/25 lbs. At the end of your day pass session, you must take all personal items (clay, tools, etc.) home with you - we do not have storage space for day pass users. No wet items can be left behind to dry at our studio.

  • Utilize SCCA glazes. You can glaze up to 20 items using our 16 SCCA glazes. Take the pieces home with you to fire or leave them at SCCA to fire using that day’s pass.

  • Drop off work to be fired. Each day pass includes firing of up to 2 kiln shelves of work - can be only bisque, only glaze, or a combination of both - but total work dropped off cannot exceed 2 shelves. Day passes cover work that is dropped off in a single session - extra visits for drop-offs will require additional day passes. See firing limitations below.

Day passes do NOT include access to a storage shelf, the Member Facebook group, members-only events, exhibits, and market opportunities, or the member class discount code.

Firing Limitations

  • SCCA will only fire pieces that use our approved clay bodies: Speckled Brownstone, Earthenware Red, Buncombe White, Bella’s Blend, or Little Loafers from Highwater Clays.

  • Outside glazes are able to be used, but must be pre-approved and must be Cone 6.

    • Any damage caused by your pieces to our kiln shelves will result in a damage fee that must be paid upon pick up of your pieces. Repeated damage to our shelves may result in the revocation of your ability to utilize SCCA’s studio through a day pass.

  • Pieces left to be fired at SCCA have a turnaround time of 4-6 weeks.

  • Fired work will only be held at SCCA’s studio for 1 month after it has been fired. Any pieces left behind past the 1-month limit will be discarded and unavailable for pick up.
