Monday-Friday, June 24-June 28, 9AM-12PM
Open to rising 6th-12th graders
Students will learn different methods of shaping clay using only our hands, molds, and tools. We'll explore many methods of creating elaborate decorative and functional pieces, including using coils, slabs, and pinching. We will spend lots of time decorating our pieces and learning decorative techniques like sgraffito, slip painting, terra sigillata, and more!
We will touch on the historic cultures from which these techniques derive, from classic Chinese blue and white porcelain to Greek figure painted vases to noted Pueblo potter Maria Martinez.
Students will choose their favorite studio glaze to complete some of their work. Fired work will be available for pick up within a month of the final day of camp.
